A divulgação da educação e cultura científicas permite uma maior e melhor compreensão do mundo, o desenvolvimento do pensamento crítico e a tomada de decisões informadas. Neste sentido, o acesso ao conhecimento assume grande importância para assegurar a participação cívica e cultural de todos os cidadãos sendo essencial para uma verdadeira inclusão social. O projeto resulta do esforço conjunto da Ciência Viva e da Associação Cultural Moinho da Juventude, levando a ciência às crianças e jovens, às suas famílias e aos restantes membros da comunidade do bairro. O projeto irá promover as literacias digital e ambiental, facilitando o acesso ao conhecimento a todos os que não têm um contacto frequente com as descobertas científicas, a inovação tecnológica ou a riqueza do mundo natural. A Ciência Chegou ao Bairro contribuirá assim para a inclusão destes moradores, de diferentes idades e condições sociais, numa sociedade cada vez mais marcada pela ciência e pela tecnologia.
Beneficiaries
The two types are::
- Direct Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan that has been negotiated and approved by the European Union;
- Final Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are approved following a selection process through Calls for Applications.
Call for applications
As part of the Call for Applications, submissions are requested to select the projects and final beneficiaries to whom funding will be awarded. Specific selection criteria are defined for each call, which must be reflected in the applications submitted and assessed.
The project is appraised on the basis of its compliance with the selection criteria laid down in the calls for applications, and a final score may be awarded, where applicable.

Beneficiaries representing public entities implement their project by signing one or more contracts with suppliers for goods or services through public procurement procedures.
