Rationale for HiringThe need to hire an Principal Researcher in Forestry engineering arises from the expectation of having a researcher that is expected to lead and conduct research in forest engineering with a focus on forest products technology, enhancing the use of wood based products in construction, while aiming at the valorisation of forest biomass through the development of new products and services that can promote the strengthening of the forest value chain. Innovative solutions to enhance the sustainable utilization of forest resources and optimize forest product manufacturing processes are expected to be developed by the researcher.Description of TasksWithin the framework of this job, the researcher is responsible for the coordination and management of the projects related to the area of forest engineering and product technology, as well as all the training and dissemination activities that come from its development. The researcher must also guarantee the maintenance of a consistent track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals as well as a regular attendance in national and international conferences of the area of expertise.A strong investment in the search for new research partners and reinforcement of the existing contact network is expected, focused on obtaining multidisciplinary teams involving knowledge centers (universities), associations, companies, and industry. The researcher is also expected to be involved in the supervision of the research assistants and graduate students, within this area of expertise.Scientific Profile RequiredTo follow this description and responsibilities the qualifications for this job are:PhD in Forestry Engineering, focused on forest products technology.Minimum of 10 years expertise in post doc on forest products technology, wood science, or related areas.Proven track record of research publications in peer-reviewed journals and successful project proposals.Experience in coordinating project applications for national and international funds.Extensive knowledge of wood science, wood based products, and forest resource management.Research expertise in areas such as wood processing and/or value-added wood products.Strong technical, organizational, planning and communication skills.With the fulfilment of this position SerQ will be in the forefront of wood technology, playing a crucial role in developing wood-based products for construction, offering innovative solutions that enhance sustainability, durability, and efficiency in building practices. Ultimately, SerQ can be established has a leader in advocating for wood as a preferred building material, contributing to both economic growth and environmental sustainability.

- Direct Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan that has been negotiated and approved by the European Union;
- Final Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are approved following a selection process through Calls for Applications.
Call for applications
