Summary

The School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon (FLUL) and the Center of Linguistics of the University of Lisbon (CLUL) invite applications to an Assistant Professor position in Clinical Linguistics. Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Linguistics, Psychology or equivalent, with a theme that fits within any of the domains of the scientific field of Linguistics, and a clinical qualification. Applicants should also have a proven track record in research, scholarly publications, experience in providing clinical services related to speech, language and communication disorders, and knowledge of advanced techniques of statistical analysis. Applicants with experience in language and communication difficulties, developmental or acquired, such as in individuals with genetic disorders, autism, developmental language disorders, aphasia, or reading and writing disorders would be preferred. Experience with clinical assessments of language and development of interventions to improve speech or language deficits constitute a plus. Proficiency in Portuguese is also a plus, and a minimum of three years of postdoctoral experience is required.Clinical Linguistics is a developing research area at CLUL that plays a core role in one of the three focal research domains that shape CLUL’s strategy for the years to come: language and communication in acquisition, development, and aging. CLUL has been producing research and tools to understand and assess various linguistic domains in language development and language impairments. Such an endeavor requires the strengthening of multi and interdisciplinarity within CLUL, with knowledge gains on the complex links between language disorders and language-related cognitive functions and skills. Given the strong link between research and teaching at FLUL, and CLUL’s involvement in undergraduate and graduate programs, training in clinical linguistics and related areas is part of CLUL’s mission to offer young researchers a diverse and sound background in language sciences.The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to advancing the field and promote interdisciplinary collaborations in clinical linguistics, with a focus on resolving challenges arising from language in general, and language specific factors of Portuguese. The appointee will also contribute to the graduate curricula, to the mentoring and supervision of (post)graduate students, and assume service/administrative responsibilities as appropriate.

Beneficiaries

Within the scope of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, two types of beneficiaries are responsible for carrying out the projects and using the funding provided. Due to their similar role, the reference to these two types of beneficiaries has been simplified and unified under the term "Beneficiary".
The two types are::
  • Direct Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan that has been negotiated and approved by the European Union;
  • Final Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are approved following a selection process through Calls for Applications.

Call for applications

As part of the Call for Applications, submissions are requested to select the projects and final beneficiaries to whom funding will be awarded. Specific selection criteria are defined for each call, which must be reflected in the applications submitted and assessed.

The project is appraised on the basis of its compliance with the selection criteria laid down in the calls for applications, and a final score may be awarded, where applicable.

Final evaluation score

8,9
Important note

The components for calculating the assessment score can be found in the selection criteria document mentioned below.
